  • Took a thousand mile trip south on the Chinese Bullet Train to search out some of the wildlife of the tropical forests in the Wuyishan Mountains, Fujian Province. Being a public holiday it was teeming with Chinese tourists, but the scenery was stunning and once I managed to escape the crowds there were plenty of exotic insects as well as the occasional frog, toad and some rather timid birds. Below is a selection of my favourites:

Chinese Peacock Butterfly (Papilio bianor) Asian Swallowtail Butterflies (Papilio xuthus)

Grasshopper Nymph (Orthoptera sp.) Camouflaged grasshopper (Orthoptera sp.)

Asiatic Toad (Bufo gargarizans) White-browed Laughingthrush (Garrulax sannio)
